This signed biography, as commisioned by the artist, comprises chapters
illustrating different periods of his life. His evolving painting style is explored
and painting techniques are documented indepth, which will be of particular
interest to other artists and admirers of his work. This is a unique opportunity

The author, Jonathan Riley, read history at Cambridge University,
where he first discovered his passionate interest in art, after visiting
the Uffizi gallery in Florence. He has curated many exhibitions of Modern
British paintings for over thirty five years. He has also contributed to many
auction catalogues and artists’ ‘introductions’. In 1999 he wrote part of
the biography ‘Bratby’ and is currently wotking on a catalogue raisonne
and biography of the Stockport artist, Alan Lowndes.
In this latest book over 100 colour images of paintings by Andrew Macara
have been reproduced, with kind permission from the artist himself.
